The GlassRoots Project

Preserving the past, Investing in the future

Mission Statement

The GlassRoots Project is a product of the creative collaboration of students at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. They vary in experience and areas of study, but they are all in the Honors Concentration and have a desire to give back to the Glassboro and Rowan community.

The goal of our project is to partner with the Heritage Glass Museum to leverage our pride for our community for social, cultural, environmental, and economic change. We want to make Glassboro's tremendous history and glass collections more accessible to students and the community, revamping the outdated Heritage Glass Museum to bring Rowan students, local businesses, and community members together through our shared history. In order to raise awareness and funds for a full renovation, we would create a documentary highlighting Glassboro's history and host screenings, organize street fairs and art shows to involve local artists, and plan a large open house event with group tours, glassblowing demonstrations, and the unveiling of the revived museum.

The IDEA Challenge

In fall of 2019, we participated in a competition at Rowan University entitled the IDEA challenge. Through this competition, we received attention from multiple investors.
